Synopsis:

Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai [Rashbi] lived in the Galil at the time of the Bar Kochba revolt and was considered the pre-eminent Rabbi of that period. His intense resistance to the Romans led to a death sentence. This forced him to flee to a mountainous cave where he existed for 13 years on minimal sustenance until the death of the Roman Caesar.
